For the initial session, we usually need about 10 to 15 minutes before the massage can start. You will be asked to fill in a health questionnaire so that I will have a good idea of your needs and/or any contraindications to massage. You will not be charged for the time that this part of the process takes.
Massage at Your Home
Because a Raynor Massage is individualised to the client needs at a particular time, there is no such thing as a “set” treatment, but the description below will give you an idea of what to expect.
Please be aware that I will request that you disrobe down to your underwear. You will be draped well during your treatment with the only part exposed being the area treated at the time. Treatments are carried out on a massage table with face hole, and the table will be covered in towels. Prior to your appointment time, please remove any jewellery and/or hair accessories.
The first part of the massage is diagnostic where I will be identifying tension and warming the muscles up, this will quickly move into treatment. We will discuss depth thresholds and how deep you are comfortable to work, it is likely that the depth of treatment will increase with treatments as you lose tension and learn to work with me. An area that may be painful will cease to be painful once the tension has been removed from it.
Raynor Massage is a whole body treatment, but there is likely to be a concentration on your hands, feet and head with significant work also being carried out on your legs, arms, neck, back, hips and belly.
I would also like to recommend the following points:
- Please choose an area where you can be completely relaxed and not disturbed by noises such as the television, radio and telephone.
- Choose an area where you can at least partially curtain off to limit the amount of light coming into the room (if appointment is during daylight).
- As the limbs can chill very easily, it is important to also choose an area where it is at a constant temperature that is comfortable for you.
- If you would like to take a shower or a bath, I would recommend that you take a warm shower or bath before your massage.
I am self-sufficient and will have all the equipments and accessories needed to make your experience as enjoyable and as relaxed as possible. Fresh towels for each client will be provided. However, if you prefer to use your own towels, please prepare 4 towels that are medium to large size (i.e. bath sheets, beach towels). The larger the towel, the better coverage it provides.
After Your Massage
Raynor Massage encourages detoxification in your body. I would recommend that you refrain from drinking alcohol, soft drinks, tea and coffee for at least 12 hours immediately after your treatment, or if possible for 24 hours immediately after your treatment. For best result, increase your water intake to aid the detoxification process during this period. I recommend filtered water in room temperature.
Keep yourself warm for a few hours immediately after your treatment.
Tingling feeling on any part of your body that was treated is normal. Tingling will dissipate on its own and is no cause for concern. This means that your chi – which can be interpreted as the “life energy” or “life force” – is flowing and a good sign that what was previously stagnant is now moving as it should be.
If agreeable by you, I would like to contact you a few days after your treatment to follow up on your condition. This is also a great opportunity for you to pass on any feedback, regardless of the nature of the feedback. Alternatively, feel free to send an update on your condition via email after receiving your massage and also any feedback to sandra@holisticservices.org.uk. I always strive to improve my services for your satisfaction.
